Barbera is grown throughout Piedmont (north-western Italy).
In fact, Barbera is the most planted grape
variety in Piedmont, and the third most planted variety in Italy.
A lot of good Barbera wine comes from the areas near towns of Asti, Alba, and Monferrato in Piedmont.
Barbera wine is high in acidity and low in tannin. Barbera often has aroma of black-cherry and blackberries.
