Brunello di Montalcino is red wine made 100% from particular strain of Sangiovese variety grown around the town of Montalcino. Montalcino wire area is located south of Chianti Classico area in Tuscany, about 70 miles (110 km) southwest of Florence.

Brunello di Montalcino is DOCG wine and is one of Italy's best-known and more expensive wines.

Brunello di Montalcino has smooth tannins and fruit-driven character with aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackberry, black raspberry.

Brunello di Montalcino is required to be aged for at least four years, some wines are aged much longer. Most producers will separate their production between a normale (released on the market 50 months after harvest) and riserva (release additional one year later) bottling.
