Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is DOCG wine and is one of Italy's best-known and more expensive wines.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is red wine made primarily from particular strain of Sangiovese variety grown around the town of Montepulciano. Montepulciano wire area is located south of Chianti Classico area in Tuscany, about 70 miles (110 km) south of Florence.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano has 70%+ Sangiovese grape varietal blended with Canaiolo Nero (10%–20%), plus small amounts of other local varieties such as Mammolo. Wine is aged for 2 years (3 years if riserva) in oak barrels.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano has smooth tannins, with with aromas and flavors of plummy fruit and almond.
